Live gig by singer-songwriter Maria Taylor, supported by Dilettante and Solomon Hughes, at The Attic in Leeds.
Maria Taylor plays The Attic on Friday 23 October, with support from Dilettante and Solomon Hughes. Taylor is a singer-songwriter known for hushed vocals, cinematic atmospheres and emotionally resonant storytelling, both as a solo artist and as a founding member of Azure Ray.
Her latest album, Story's End, was recorded at her California home studio and ARC Studios in Omaha, with contributions from Mike Mogis, Ben Brodin, Brad Armstrong, Conor Oberst and Nate Walcott. She's also spent time on the other side of the glass recently: she sang harmonies on three songs on Phoebe Bridgers' last record while touring as drums for Bright Eyes.
Opening the night is Dilettante, the art-pop project of multi-instrumentalist and former BC Camplight member Francesca Pidgeon. Her second album, Life of The Party, came out via EMI North / Launchpad+ to a four-star MOJO review that called it "a dazzlingly skewed pop-vision". The band has sold out headline shows across the UK and played festivals from SXSW and NXNE to Kendal Calling and The Great Escape. Joining them is Solomon Hughes, an indie-rock singer-songwriter whose confessional lyricism and melodic guitar riffs draw on Sam Fender and Fleetwood Mac.
