Norwegian singer-songwriter Maren Davidsen, with her debut album 'This Is Where I Leave You', plays Hyde Park Book Club with support from Frankie Freeman.
Maren Davidsen plays Hyde Park Book Club on Friday 30 October, with support from Frankie Freeman. It's part of her return to the UK this autumn, and the set will be built around her debut album, This Is Where I Leave You.
Davidsen is a Norwegian singer-songwriter who moved to London to pursue her music career, and This Is Where I Leave You is a deeply personal record about losing herself in a relationship and finding her way back. It's the kind of album that sits closer to the songwriter's own life than to a polished studio product, and the songs carry that through. Canadian music journalist Eric Alper described it as "a beautiful piece of Nordic Americana that hits you right in the heart," which gives you a fair idea of where the sound lands — folk-leaning, with the Americana tag pointing to that open, acoustic feel.
Frankie Freeman opens the night, so you'll get two sets in one evening. Davidsen takes the main slot, and the songs from the new album will be the focus of the set. If you've got the record on repeat, this is when you hear them live; if you haven't, it's a good way to get a first proper listen.
