Halloween night with DJs Jonny Strangeways and Zombie Hans, opening with a bingo game and old-school Halloween classics before 80s and 90s dance music.
Jonny Strangeways and Zombie Hans are taking over Left Bank Leeds on Friday 30 October for a Mad World Halloween special. It's a night that starts with a bit of a joke and ends with a full dancefloor, and it's one of those Leeds nights that doesn't take itself too seriously.
Strangeways is a long-time fixture of the city's DJ scene, having played at Strangeways, Imaginary Friends, Sex Dwarf, Party Party, Bad Sneakers and Don't Falter. He's teaming up here with his pal Zombie Hans, and they're running the night from start to finish. The whole thing kicks off with a breakneck twenty-minute bingo game that hands out rubbish prizes before the floor fills up, so if you're coming for the music, you might want to arrive a bit later, or just lean into the chaos.
From there, the music runs from old-school Halloween classics like Ghostbusters, Michael Jackson and Boris Pickett into alternative 80s and 90s. It's a broad sweep that pulls in The Prodigy, Joy Division, The Cure, Depeche Mode, The Cramps, Talking Heads, Radiohead, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Erasure, RATM and Pixies, crossing synth-pop, grunge, dance, electronica and new wave. It's the kind of set that doesn't stick to one lane, so you'll hear as much grunge and new wave as you will dance and electronica.

DIY Halloween outfits are encouraged, from bin-bag capes to loo-roll zombies, and there's a prize for best dressed, so if you've got a costume you've been waiting to wear, this is a good spot for it. Doors open at 7:00pm, bingo runs from 7:30 to 7:50, and the dancing goes until midnight. It's at Left Bank Leeds, LS6 1LJ.
