Beginner macramé workshop to make a plant hanger, with all materials provided, at Swarthmore Education Centre.
Hannah Sibai of Dear Prudence Macramé is running a plant hanger workshop at Swarthmore Education Centre on Saturday 31 October, starting at 11:00. It's built for absolute beginners, so you don't need to have ever touched a piece of cord before to join in.
Over the course of the session, Sibai guides you through several knots and techniques that you'll be able to take away and use in other macramé projects later on. By the end, you'll have made your own plant hanger to fill with a trailing plant of your choice. All the materials are provided, including the cotton macramé cord and a plant pot, so you can just turn up and get stuck in.
The workshop is part of the craft programme at Swarthmore Education Centre, a centre for lifelong learning, community projects and family learning. It's a place that aims to welcome people who want to learn but might not feel comfortable in more formal educational institutions, working on a friendly, human scale with a confidential counselling service and learning support on hand. The session is for adults, so you'll need to be 18 or over to take part.
