Weekly student Tuesday night party with Hip Hop, RnB and Afrobeats, a silent disco of 2000s bangers and on-stage dance-offs.
MAAD City is back at Belgrave Music Hall & Canteen on Tuesday 27 October, part of its weekly run as a student night in Leeds. The promoter Fresh2Death has built the night around a Hip Hop, RnB, Afrobeats and 2000s sound, and it's split across two rooms. The main room handles the RnB, Hip Hop and Afrobeats, while a second room runs a silent disco of 2000s bangers and singalongs, with on-stage dance-offs and rap-alongs to keep things moving. The venue adds its own layer to the mix: a party room, a chill space and a rooftop with skyline views and its own private bar, and Dough Boys pizza slices on sale if you need something to eat.
There's a strong 2016 nostalgia running through it, too. The dress code leans into vintage streetwear, oversized jerseys, skinny jeans, fresh creps, snapbacks, chokers and fishnets. The decor follows suit, with emoji balloons, throwback decorations and Polaroids with 2016-themed props downstairs. It's a specific look, so if you've still got your old jerseys and snapbacks in the back of the wardrobe, this is the night to bring them out.

It's billed as the 'maaddest Tuesday night party' in Leeds, and it returns every week to Belgrave Music Hall & Canteen as a student night. The music is the main draw, with the two rooms letting you switch between the Afrobeats and Hip Hop of the main room and the 2000s singalongs of the silent disco, and the rooftop and chill space there if you need a break from the dancefloor. It starts late, too: 23:30 on Tuesday and runs through until Wednesday morning, so it's more of a late-night one than a standard evening out. Entry is £5.
