Live gig by the Newcastle duo Lots of Hands and experimental project Sundots at the Brudenell Social Club in Burley, presented by Futuresound.
Lots of Hands and Sundots play Brudenell Social Club on Tuesday 10 November, a night put on by Futuresound. There's also a guest to be announced, so the bill will grow a bit before the night arrives.
Lots of Hands is the duo of Billy Woodhouse and Elliot Dryden, who first connected in a Newcastle school music programme when they were 16. Their album into a pretty room was their first fully collaborative effort, and it's a thoughtful, largely instrumental record that sits between moments of tragedy and triumph, drawing on grief, loss and growing up. Dryden often travels to write and record in Woodhouse's bedroom studio, and that domestic, close-knit way of working comes through in the music.
Sundots is the project of experimental composer Drew Collins, who only picked up a guitar in 2019. He was later joined by friends from the Connecticut DIY scene — Jake Fucci, Austin Traver and Nick Restivo. Their sound blends freak-folk, ambient, slowcore and indie-rock, and their 2024 record Honeyspot looked at youth, maturity, love and fantasy. Between the two acts, you've got a largely instrumental record on one hand and a mix of folk, ambient and slowcore on the other, so the night should hold its own across the different styles.
