Late-night party where Lift Your Feet and low notes share a bill of jazz, disco, electronic, hip hop, UKG, soul, funk and house.
Lift Your Feet and low notes share a bill at Hyde Park Book Club on Saturday 21 November, their first time on the same night. Both are among Leeds' biggest upcoming party starters, so it's a bit of a collision of two nights that usually run their own separate lanes.
Lift Your Feet is the main feature here. They describe their sound as fusions of jazz and soul on the dancefloor, pulling from the past, present and future of the genre. It's a wide net to cast, and the night reflects that: the music ranges across jazz, disco, electronic, hip hop, UKG, Brazil, soul, funk and house. If you're used to a night that sticks to one corner of the room, this is the opposite — it's a long-haul trip through a lot of different styles, all held together by that jazz and soul thread.
Behind the name are Ga-briel and Harry Rook, the two who run the Lift Your Feet side of things. They're joined on the bill by low notes, who bring AKA, LOW, ilion and lost herbs. Between the two crews, that's six names on one night, and since they've never shared a bill before, it's the first time you'll hear them working together rather than on their own.
