Halloween-themed after-dark walking tour of Leeds exploring the city's darker past, including murders, ghosts and haunted pubs.
The Dark Side Walking Tour is back in Leeds on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October, with both nights starting at 7pm. It's a Halloween-themed after-dark walk that takes you through the city's darker history, and it's returned by popular demand, so there are two dates to choose from if you're around that weekend.
The tour is built around the grim side of Leeds' past: murders, alien abductions and ghosts. Among the highlights are The Leeds Mummy, the notorious prisoner of Leeds Town Hall, and The Yorkshire Martyr. It doesn't just stick to the macabre, either; it looks at the horrendous working-class conditions of the city's past and its string of haunted pubs. It's a guided walk, so you'll have someone leading the way and telling the stories as you go, rather than just a map and a list of sites to find on your own.
One thing to keep in mind: this one is for adults only, ages 18 and over. The whole thing lasts about an hour and a half, so you're looking at a good stretch of walking through the city centre after dark. The meeting point is outside Leeds Art Gallery in Victoria Square, The Headrow, LS1 3AA, which is where the tour kicks off before heading out into the night.
