Social experiment gathering of about fifteen strangers in one room to meet and make new friends, hosted by Jhalak and Lavanya.
Leeds SideQuest is back at Hyde Park Book Club on Saturday 24 October, from 6:00 to 9:00pm. It's hosted by Jhalak and Lavanya, and the whole thing is built around a pretty simple, slightly strange premise: fifteen strangers, one room, zero plans.
That's the core of it. The idea is to bring together about fifteen people who might never have crossed paths otherwise and just let things happen. Random conversations, unexpected common interests, new friendships — all of it left to its own devices, without any awkward expectations or networking pitches to get through. It's designed for anyone who doesn't know a single person turning up and seeing what happens, a nudge to get out of your usual routine and say hello to someone new. Jhalak and Lavanya describe it as a social experiment, and that's a fair way to put it: the only thing on the agenda is the people who show up.
If you're usually the one who knows everyone in the room, this is the opposite of that. It's for the person who'd rather just wander in and see who else is there. The lack of a set programme is the whole point — no icebreakers, no structured activities, just a room full of people who've all agreed to the same thing. It's a low-stakes way to meet a few new faces in the city without having to commit to anything more than a few hours on a Saturday evening.
