A pop culture convention celebrating comics, movies, TV, gaming, anime and cosplay, featuring guest talks, artist alley and a cosplay masquerade.
Leeds Comic-Con is back at New Dock Hall in the Royal Armouries on Sunday 18 October, a day for comics, movies, TV, gaming, anime, cosplay and pop culture. It's run by Unleashed Events, a consumer-focused convention that brings together comic book vendors, an artist alley, gaming areas and meet-and-greet opportunities with guests from the entertainment industry. On arrival you'll be greeted by a wide array of cosplayers, and if you like to dress up, you're invited to take part in the cosplay masquerade. That's the organiser's version of a cosplay competition: entrants are called onto the stage one by one and decided by impartial judges across three age categories, with prizes including an Unleashed Events Multi-Pass and autographs from previous media guests.
This time around, the guest list includes talks by Michael Carter, Chloe Annett, Samantha Alleyne and Nigel Parkinson, with media guest Natalie Gumede also on the bill. The day is pitched as one for families, sci-fi collectors and fans, so it works as well if you're coming with the kids as it does if you're just there for the comics and the collectibles. New Dock Hall has its own cafe serving hot and cold food and drinks, and the nearby Royal Armouries has one too, so there's plenty of place to grab a brew and a snack between the talks and the stalls.
