Multi-award-winning New Zealand comedian Laura Lexx brings her new stand-up show 'Yo-Yo' to The Wardrobe, a 16+ night.
Laura Lexx brings her new show Yo-Yo to The Wardrobe on Thursday 12 November, one of her Leeds dates this autumn. It's her first new hour since Slinky, the show that won Best Show at the Women in Comedy Festival and picked up two nominations for Best International Debut at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival. She's also a two-time Best MC at the Comics Comic Awards, taking the title in both 2018 and 2019, and has been reviewed well by The Scotsman, The Guardian, The Telegraph, Ed Fest Mag and Broadway Baby.
Yo-Yo draws on her ten-year marriage, and the central joke is a familiar one: her partner has seen every bad idea, every silly decision and every unfiltered thought she's ever had, and he still says he loves her. The twist comes when she admits that, somewhere along the way, she has to actually believe himβand maybe learn to love herself too. It's the kind of personal, self-deprecating stuff she's built her reputation on, and it's a good place to start if you're new to her work.
If you've caught her on telly rather than live, you'll recognise her from Mock The Week, Live at The Apollo, Hypothetical, Pointless, Celebrities and Roast Battle. She's a regular on the circuit, and this is a full hour of her own material rather than a supporting slot.

Doors open at 7pm, with the show starting at 7:30pm. Tickets are Β£21, and it's a 16+ night, so keep that in mind if you're bringing a younger crowd.
