Night of alternative rock, post-hardcore, metal and punk with Kijuana, Valinor, Ducter and Luster at Royal Park Cellars.
Kijuana and Valinor head up a four-band bill at Royal Park Cellars on Saturday 14 November, with Ducter and Luster filling out the rest of the night. It's a wide-ranging line-up that pulls from alternative rock, post-hardcore, metal and punk, so the sound changes quite a bit as the night goes on.
Kijuana come from Bradford and play raw, loud, tense alternative rock. If you're into Queens of the Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys and Royal Blood, that's the territory they're working in. Valinor build their set around a story: the fall of Elpis-9, a utopia conquered by Balerion. They blend metal, alternative rock and pop rock, and they describe their sound in terms of Coheed and Cambria, Michael Jackson, Avenged Sevenfold and Sleeping with Sirens.
Ducter move the night into math-rock, post-punk and hardcore, drawing on Unwound, Slint and the Minutemen. Luster then bring in the modern metalcore intensity, with a nu-metal influence running through it. Between the four of them, you'll hear everything from the raw rock of Kijuana to the more conceptual metal of Valinor, the jagged edges of Ducter and the heavier, nu-metal leaning of Luster.
