Strictly 18+ Halloween night of alternative 1980s music, from post-punk anthems to new wave classics, at The HiFi Club.
Just Like Heaven takes over The HiFi Club on Friday 30 October for an alt 80s Halloween night. The whole evening is built around the alternative side of the decade, with post-punk anthems and new wave classics running through the set. It's a night for the songs that sat on the edge of the charts rather than the ones that dominated them, so if you're into the moodier, synth-driven sounds of the era, this is exactly where you'll want to be.
It's a Halloween special, so costumes are highly encouraged. You'll see people leaning into the theme, and it's a good excuse to dig out something from the era if you've got it. The night is strictly 18+, and they're firm on that: no ID, no entry, so make sure you've got yours on you before you head in.
The HiFi Club itself is a proper Leeds institution. It's been a home for quality music in the city for nearly a quarter of a century, starting out as the hub for the local soul community. Since then it's opened up to a whole range of genres, from disco through to house and hip-hop, and its Saturday comedy club regularly books names like Justin Moorhouse, Joe Lycett and Mick Ferry alongside newer talent. It's a venue that knows how to handle a dancefloor, and it's a familiar spot for anyone who spends their weekends out in the city.
