Live set by Jonny Flockton from his solo album 'Factories' in the Seven Bar room at Seven Arts.
Jonny Flockton plays Seven Arts on Thursday 22 October, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. He'll be performing in the Seven Bar room, playing work from his solo release Factories.
If you're not familiar with the name, Flockton is best known for his work with Leeds legend Mik Artistik and the acoustic roots band Colour Of Light, and has since carved a path as an individual voice on the guitar. Iggy Pop is a fan, who described him on BBC 6 Music as 'Unique and Learned'.
Factories draws on a distinct set of influences: the ambient music of Brian Eno, guitar icon Derek Bailey and pianist Matthew Bourne. The music is intentionally played as a companion to the audience's conversations, so it's a night that sits somewhere between a formal gig and a social evening, with the guitar running alongside the room rather than demanding total silence. It's a different way of listening to a live set, and one that fits the Seven Bar setting.
