Intergenerational worship service held at Hyde Park Methodist Mission Church to mark Black History Month.
Hyde Park Methodist Mission Church is hosting an intergenerational worship service on Sunday 25 October, held as part of Black History Month. The service is open to all ages, so it's one of those you can bring the whole family along to rather than leaving the kids at home.
Being an intergenerational service, the whole point is to have different generations in the room together, with the liturgy and the music shaped to work for everyone from the youngest to the oldest. It's not a separate children's service running alongside the main one; it's one gathering with all ages taking part in the same thing.
The service is tied into Black History Month, which runs throughout October. That means the readings, the prayers, and the music will draw on Black history and Black Christian tradition, bringing those voices into the worship rather than keeping them as a separate study. It's a way of marking the month within the life of the church, and it's open to anyone who wants to come along, whether you're a regular at the mission or just passing through.
