All-day new music festival at The Brudenell with Squid and Working Men's Club headlining.
In Colour returns to The Brudenell Social Club on Saturday 24 October, a winter edition of the venue's all-day celebration of new music. It's a long one, with doors opening at 15:00, so you can settle in for the afternoon and stay through to the night.
The bill is built around Squid, who started in 2016 as an instrumental jazz band in Brighton before signing to Warp and putting out Bright Green Field in 2021, O Monolith in 2023, and Cowards more recently. They're joined by Working Men's Club, who grew out of singer-songwriter Syd Minsky-Sargeant processing his teenage life in Todmorden, with a self-titled debut, Fear Fear, and a Glastonbury 2023 show to their name.
Beyond those two, the day fills out with a wide spread of bands. Ugly fuse choral, post-rock and 60s/70s staples; Theatre are a Limerick five-piece led by Maeve, blending ethereal rock with folk and shoegaze; Tanzana are a Glasgow five-piece who formed in 2023; and 1000 Rabbits are London regulars of The Windmill in Brixton. The rest of the line-up brings in post-funk 'tronica-punk' from Bad Gravy, slowcore from Wakefield's Bedworm, and post-punk from Leeds' own Slick Cage, with Max Winter, Marsy, Fair Maiden and Tanzana rounding out the bill. It's a big, varied afternoon that runs from the early slots through to the headliners.
