GetSocial Halloween Part I: Escape Room

GetSocial is bringing its Halloween special to The Great Escape Game on Wednesday 21 October, from 6:30pm to 10:00pm. The night pairs an escape room with a social, with several rooms to choose from, so you'll be working through a puzzle with a small group before the evening opens up into something more conversational.

If you're not familiar with GetSocial, it's a social for young professionals in Leeds, pitched as a way to meet new people and expand your social circle rather than your average night out. More than half the attendees are first-timers and over 90% arrive solo, so the night leans on a welcoming atmosphere. Music is kept at a conversational volume, and the organisers run dedicated WhatsApp community groups, including a women's group, to help people connect. Safety is also a stated priority, with an anonymous reporting channel for any inappropriate behaviour.

The Halloween edition adds a bit more to the mix. Beyond the escape room, the night is billed as relaxed, with drinks, chats and 2-for-1 cocktails running all evening. And there's a bonus: your ticket also grants you entry to the GetSocial Halloween Fancy Dress Party on 31 October, so it's two nights for the price of one if you're planning on dressing up for Halloween anyway.

It's aimed at people in their 20s to 40s, and since the vast majority turn up on their own, it's a straightforward way to spend a midweek evening meeting new people in the city.
