Sherry Week pairing evening with Carmen Aumesquet Rodríguez from the Sherry Consejo, pairing Fino, Amontillado and other Sherries with charcuterie and farmhouse cheeses from Friends of Ham.
Friends of Ham is hosting a Sherry pairing evening on Tuesday 3 November, as part of International Sherry Week. It's run by Yorkshire Local Wine School, an independent wine education and experience company that does tastings and events across Leeds, York and Harrogate. They're part of the Local Wine School Network, which they describe as the world's fastest-growing network of independent wine schools.
The night is built around pairing Fino, Amontillado and other Sherry styles with charcuterie and farmhouse cheeses from Friends of Ham, a Leeds venue known for its craft beer and adventurous wine list. The whole thing takes place in the cosy basement underneath the main bar, so it's tucked away from the street. Carmen Aumesquet Rodríguez, director of promotional activities for the Sherry Consejo, pours the wine and answers questions throughout the two-hour session. It opens with a welcome drink and works through six Sherries, with the food coming alongside.
