Fishies play the O2 Academy Leeds for its Halloween show, 'Fishies Beckett Boiler'.
Fishies are playing the O2 Academy Leeds on Friday 30 October, a Halloween special they've billed as Fishies Beckett Boiler. It's a Friday night in the city, and the date sits just a few days before Halloween, so it works as a proper start to the weekend.
The venue is the O2 Academy on Cookridge Street, and it's a place with a long history. The building opened as the Coliseum on 15 July 1885, starting out as a concert hall before it became a theatre. Over the years it's hosted variety shows, political meetings, religious gatherings and even a circus. It spent time as a cinema, then a bingo hall and a social club, before reopening in 1992 as the Town and Country Club. Blur, Primal Scream, Suede and The Stone Roses all played there during that run. From 2001 to 2004 it was the Creation nightclub, and it reopened again in 2008 with a sold-out Kaiser Chiefs show, and has since hosted DJs like Fatboy Slim and Deadmau5.

If you're thinking about tickets, there's a bit of a choice in how you watch. The stalls downstairs are all standing, with no raised platform, so you're right in the thick of it. The balcony has both standing and seated tickets, which is the way to go if you'd rather have a view from above or a seat for the night. It's the same building that's seen everything from 19th-century variety shows to 90s Britpop and 2000s dance nights, now hosting Fishies for a Halloween special. The address is 55 Cookridge Street, Leeds LS2 3AW.
