Festive afternoon tea with mince pies, pigs in blankets and cranberry sauce, plus vegan and vegetarian options, at the tea rooms of Temple Newsam.
The Arium is running a festive afternoon tea from 1 November to 23 December, so it's on for a good stretch of the run-up to Christmas. It's open from 11am to 3pm, which gives you plenty of room to fit it in whenever suits you best.
The tea brings together a few of the seasonal staples you'd expect: mince pies, pigs in blankets and cranberry sauce, with vegan and vegetarian options available too. Every booking includes unlimited tea and Americano coffees, so you can keep the pots going as long as you like. It's a proper sit-down spread rather than a quick bite.
The Arium itself is the home of the Leeds Festival of Light, the winter festival of light art and installations that takes over the grounds of Temple Newsam, a Grade II* listed country house and art gallery. The estate's tea rooms were the first café within Leeds City Council to display the carbon footprint of selected menu items, and Mrs Pawson's shop on the estate sells goods made with wool from the estate's own farm. If you're heading there for tea, you've got the rest of the grounds to wander around afterwards.
