Ex:Re at Jumbo Records

Ex:Re play Jumbo Records on Wednesday 4 November, an in-store live set that starts at 5:30pm. If you're not familiar with the name, it's the solo project of Elena Tonra, who you'll know as the singer, songwriter and guitarist for Daughter. She released the project's debut solo album in 2018, and it's been her outlet as a solo artist and lyricist ever since.

Having her step out from the band to do her own thing changes the focus. In Daughter, she's part of a full sound; here, the spotlight is on her voice and her guitar, and the songs she writes when she's working on her own. It's a different side of her songwriting, and this set is built around that.

Because it's an in-store performance at Jumbo Records, it's a small, stripped-back affair rather than a full concert. You'll be standing among the shelves in one of Leeds' record shops, with Tonra playing live in the room. It's a far cry from a proper stage, and that's exactly the point — it's as close as you can get to hearing her play without a whole band around her.

One thing to keep in mind: the show is listed as sold out, so if you haven't already got your place sorted, you're likely out of luck for this one. For those who have, it's Wednesday 4 November at Jumbo Records, starting at 5:30pm.
