Live doom and heavy music night with Doomherre, Sleeping Mountain and The Grey at Boom, the grassroots metal venue on Armley Road.
Doomherre headline Boom on Thursday 22 October, with Sleeping Mountain and The Grey on the bill. It's a three-band night of doom and heavy rock, and the whole thing kicks off at 7:30pm.
Doomherre are a Swedish doom metal trio built on heavy riffs, underground roots and years of friendship. They're the main draw of the evening, and they're joined by two bands from closer to home. Sleeping Mountain are a London outfit inspired by the 1970s, drawing on the grooves and psychedelia of heavy music's early days to shape their own sound. The Grey are an instrumental three-piece from Cambridge that mixes hard rock, doom and melody. Between them, the three cover a fair stretch of heavy ground, from the slow-burn of doom to the more melodic side of hard rock.
The night is hosted at Boom, a grassroots live music venue dedicated to punk, hardcore and metal and run mostly by volunteers. For more than ten years it stood at Byron Street Mills on Millwright Street, where it grew from practice rooms into a multi-stage venue with rehearsal rooms and studios, before the landlord ended the lease and it closed there at the end of March 2025. After six months of fundraising and volunteer work it reopened in May 2025 at Canalside Community Music Space on Armley Road, in Canalside's own 200-capacity venue room with a bar. Canalside is a not-for-profit community interest company, and the building also houses rehearsal rooms and a recording studio.
