Live gig by Melbourne's garage-punk band Delivery with support from the jazzcore trio Painkiller and Plonk at Hyde Park Book Club.
Delivery play Hyde Park Book Club on Tuesday 10 November, with support from Painkiller and Plonk. The night is put on by Futuresound Events, so it's a proper bill rather than a one-off.
Delivery come from Melbourne, and they've built a name for a caustic, mutant garage-punk sound that Brooklyn Vegan once described as sounding like the sun-baked desert vistas of Mad Max films. Their 2025 album, Force Majeure, came out through Heavenly Recordings and was framed as an unstoppable, battering-ram rock'n'roll record. They're known for an energetic live show, so if you've only heard the record, this is the better way to get the full picture.
Painkiller take the support slot, and they're a different beast entirely. Formed in 1991, they're a jazzcore trio built around saxophonist John Zorn, electric bassist Bill Laswell and drummer Mick Harris, who was in Napalm Death and later founded Scorn. Their sound mixes avant-jazz and grindcore, with ambience and dub added in later. Over the years they've played with guests like Mike Patton, Buckethead and Justin Broadrick, so they bring a fair bit of history to the stage. Plonk round out the bill.
