Lambsear, the pop, folk and improvisation collaboration of Annabelle Mödlinger and Magdalena McLean, plays The Attic.
Curbside Lambsear play The Attic on Thursday 11 February, with guests on the bill. The project is a collaboration between Annabelle Mödlinger and Magdalena McLean, a duo that weaves together pop, folk and improvisation, and they describe their sound as rough textures and soft intentions.
It started as a way for the two of them to experiment with writing music together. Those early sessions were as much about learning new instruments as they were about the songs themselves, with the pair recording and writing on DAWs. From there, they've built a sound that pulls from a wide range of influences: drone, dub and post-punk sit alongside the pop and folk at the core of it.
What comes out of that is a kind of collage. They draw on phone notes, little poems written on public transport, field recordings, sample loops, rehearsal voice memos and string melodies, fusing those disparate bits into something whole. It's a way of working that keeps the rough edges in view, and the live set should give you a good sense of how those pieces fit together.
