Curator talk and guided tour of the Thackray exhibition 'Where Magic Grows' by artist Helen Brook, with a Q&A.
Jioni Warner, Curator of Cultural Narratives, leads a curator talk at the Thackray Museum of Medicine on Wednesday 7 October. It's part of the museum's Where Magic Grows exhibition, which runs until 11 November 2026.
Where Magic Grows was co-produced with five young curators and created by artist Helen Brook in collaboration with the RHS, the UK's gardening charity. The whole thing is built around the idea of helping people and plants to grow, and this session is one of several curator talks that look at the show from a different angle. Warner's talk focuses on how we connect with the natural world, how art deepens the exhibition's storytelling, and the stories behind the objects on display.

It's more than just a talk: the session includes a guided tour, followed by a Q&A and time to explore the rest of the museum. If you're into the intersection of medicine, art, and the natural world, it's a good way to get a bit more out of the exhibition than you would by just walking through on your own. The Thackray is over in Leeds (LS9 7LN), and the exhibition stays open until 11 November, so you've got a few weeks to catch it if you can't make this particular date.
