Free seasonal artisan makers market with local makers and producers at Temple Newsam, a historic Leeds estate.
Temple Newsam hosts its craft markets on Sunday 22 November, from 10:00 to 15:00. It's part of a series of seasonal artisan makers markets run by Little Hummingbird Events in collaboration with the estate, with stalls from local makers and producers. If you're into handmade things and want to see what people around here are making, this is a good place to start.
Temple Newsam itself is a historic Leeds estate that's housed collections since the early 19th century, with the house surrounded by parkland. The markets are set within that, so you're not just popping in for the stalls and heading straight back out. There's plenty to do around the site if you want to make a proper day of it: you can explore the house and its history, visit Home Farm and the animals, or take a walk through the parkland. It's the kind of place where you can spend a few hours without really noticing it.
Because it's a Sunday morning, it works well as a slow start to the day. You can browse the stalls, maybe pick up something for the house or a gift for someone else, and then wander the grounds. If you're going with family or friends, the animals at Home Farm make it easy to bring the kids along, too.
