Weekly Saturday stand-up night at The HiFi Club, with Matt Richardson headlining alongside guests Justina Seselskaite, Christian Reilly and Phil Chapman.
Matt Richardson headlines The HiFi Club on Saturday 7 November, as part of the venue's long-running Comedy Club. He's joined by Justina Seselskaite, Christian Reilly and Phil Chapman, so it's a full night of stand-up rather than a single act.
If you've spent any time watching TV or listening to the radio over the last few years, you'll recognise Richardson's voice. He's presented The Xtra Factor, Celebrity Haunted Mansion and The Hangover Games, hosts the drive-time show on Virgin Radio, and has appeared on Celebrity Juice, I'm a Celebrity: Extra Camp and Love Island: Aftersun. On the comedy circuit, he's billed as one of the fastest-rising names, with critics calling him 'one of the top comedians in Edinburgh this year' and 'the next bright, young sensation'.
There's a bit of history to the night itself. The HiFi Club's Comedy Club has run every Saturday since 2001 and calls itself Leeds' finest independent stand-up comedy night. Over the years it's served as a launch pad for a long list of names who went on to fill arenas and head up television shows: Alan Carr, Paul Sinha, John Bishop, Katherine Ryan, Jason Manford, Sarah Millican, Russell Howard, Joe Lycett and Chris Ramsey all played here before they became household names. It's a proper working club night, and that's where the Saturday tradition comes from.

Doors open at 17:30, with the first act on stage around 18:45, so you've got plenty of time to get in and settle before the comedy starts. Tickets are £20.90, which includes the booking fee. A couple of practical things to keep in mind: seating is first-come, first-served with no reservation system, so if you want a good spot, it's worth arriving early. The venue also enforces a strict no-fancy-dress policy, so leave the costumes at home.
