Free live gig at the Brudenell Social Club with Colin Miller, Brennan Wedl and Speedway Star.
Colin Miller plays Brudenell Social Club on Monday 9 November, with Brennan Wedl and Speedway Star on the bill. Miller is an Asheville-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, and the set will draw on his second full-length album, Losin'. It's a record that works through the echoes of loss following the death of Gary King, a father figure, landlord and mentor.
For thirteen years Miller lived on King's property in East Asheville, tending the land and making music while King, a retired trucker and car enthusiast, looked on. When King died in 2022, Miller stayed for two more years. Losin' comes from that time, and the songs run from the raw storytelling of 'Porchlight' and 'Cadillac' to the ambient sorrow of '4 Wheeler' and 'Little Devil'. The record features collaborators Jake Lenderman, Xandy Chelmis and Ethan Baechtold, and closes with a nod to Springsteen on 'Thunder Road'.
