Festive trail around the grounds of Temple Newsam with more than 25 decorated Christmas trees, crafts, dressing up and seasonal treats.
Temple Newsam House is bringing back its Christmas Tree Trail this winter, running from Saturday 5 December to Saturday 19 December, with sessions starting from 10:30. It's a trail that takes you around the grounds of the house, an estate with plenty of history and a festive feel to it, and the main draw is the trees: there are more than 25 uniquely decorated Christmas trees tucked away around the house for you to find. One of them is one of the largest indoor Christmas trees in Leeds, so it's worth keeping an eye out for that one in particular.
Along the way, there are festive crafts, dressing up and seasonal treats to stop for, so it's more of a slow wander than a quick walk. The trail is just one part of what Temple Newsam has on this year. They've added The Elf Academy, a programme of workshops and tours that trains 'mini elves' with hands-on elf training led by Mrs Claus, reindeer food making, biscuit decorating and an interactive festive story. If you're not in the 'mini elf' bracket, there are festive tours for older children and grown-ups, and a seasonal programme over at Home Farm too.

It's a good one if you've got kids to keep busy over the first couple of weeks of December, and since it runs across a fortnight, you've got a fair bit of leeway on when you go. The trail opens from 10:30 on Saturday 5 December and runs through to Saturday 19 December at Temple Newsam House, in the Temple Newsam area of Leeds.
