Christmas activities on the farm, including a Christmas tree trail, a Living Nativity in the stables, the Christmouse Village in the Great Barn and children's table-decoration workshops.
Christmas on the Farm runs at Temple Newsam Home Farm from Tuesday 1 December to Thursday 24 December, with the farm open 10:00am to 4:00pm daily — though it closes at noon on Christmas Eve, so keep that in mind if you're planning a last-minute trip. It's a spread of activities across the farm buildings rather than one single show, so you can take your own time through it.
The main thing is the Christmas tree trail, which puts trees with a difference in the Blacksmith's, Play Barn, Farm Office, Dovecote, 1940s Flat, Joiner's Shop, Harness Room, Saw Mill and Engine Room. Each one tells a story about the building it's in and its past, so it's as much about the farm's history as it is about the decorations. The Great Barn houses the Christmouse Village and its own Christmas tree, and the stables play host to a Living Nativity. New for 2026 is The Elf Academy, which trains mini elves through workshops and tours.

There are a few things you'll want to sort in advance. You pick up a trail booklet from the Play Barn to guide you around, and self-led Christmas crafts run in the Joiner's Shop. The guided tree tours, which come with a mince pie and hot chocolate afterwards, and the children's table-decoration workshops cost extra and have to be booked. The rest is included in admission, so you can spend as long as you like wandering the buildings without worrying about the clock. It's a good one to do with kids, especially with the Elf Academy and the crafts, but it works just as well if you're just in it for the trail and the mince pies.
