Christmas champagne tasting evening run by Yorkshire Wine School, pairing Champagne houses with grower producers, sold out.
Yorkshire Wine School is hosting a Christmas champagne tasting at St Peter's Hall on Tuesday 8 December, from 7:00pm. It's a two-hour session, so you're in and out in time for a proper evening, and it's run by the school as part of their tasting night series.
The tasting follows their usual format: pairing the big, well-known Champagne houses with smaller grower producers and styles that don't always get the spotlight. You'll find single-village wines from Mesnil, family-run operations, Blanc de Blancs, and Blanc de Noirs. The bottles come from the school's own stash, with a couple brought back from Laura's trips to Reims, so it's a mix of the familiar and the slightly more off-beat. If you're used to the big names, it's a good way to see how the smaller producers stack up.
Yorkshire Wine School is part of the Local Wine School Network, which they describe as the world's fastest-growing network of independent wine schools, running courses at all levels. They've been featured in The Daily Telegraph and Time Out Magazine, and their tasting nights are designed to be accessible, so you don't need to be an expert to get something out of it.
