Hands-on lino printing workshop led by Emma Digby and Lynn from the North Print Collective to carve festive designs and print Christmas cards and wrapping paper.
Chirpy is hosting a Christmas card and wrap lino printing workshop on Tuesday 3 November, from 7:00 PM. It's run by Emma and Lynn from the North Print Collective, and the whole evening is built around the traditional art of lino printing: you carve your own festive design into a linoleum block and then print your own set of Christmas cards. If you're feeling ambitious, there's the option to print matching wrapping paper on the night too, so you can have a coordinated look for your presents.
Lynn and Emma bring two different backgrounds to the table. Lynn is a textiles, art and design technology teacher who's been teaching since 2009; her workshops are hands-on and welcoming, and she's guided students to create pieces that became part of the Threads of Survival community project in Hyde Park, whose quilts toured the country. Emma Digby is a practising printmaker and educator who's been teaching since 2006, working across many printmaking techniques and drawing on fonts and the natural world. Between them, they've got plenty of experience in guiding people through the process, so it's a good one to jump into even if you've never picked up a carving tool before.

The session is for ages 16 and over, and tickets are £45 per person. If you decide to go for the matching wrapping paper, there's a small extra cost payable on the evening. As a nice little bonus, attendees get 10% off at Chirpy during the session, which is handy if you fancy a drink or a snack while you work. The workshop is at Chirpy, 148 Harrogate Road, Leeds, LS7 4NZ, and tickets are sold through Eventbrite.
