Chase & Status - Generic Everything

Chase & Status play Leeds Beckett Students' Union on Friday 13 November, a DJ set marking the launch of their new album, Generic Everything. There's no support on the bill, so it's just the two of them on the decks for the night.

Generic Everything arrived on 9 October, alongside the single 'Gone Too Far' featuring Debbie. It's a ten-track project that pulls in a wide cast of collaborators: J Hus, Little Simz, Skrillex, Giggs, D Double E, Blanco, IRAH and Col3trane. The duo describes the record as built around resisting creative conformity in a world shaped by algorithms and endless content, and it moves between rave, rap, soundsystem culture and electronic music. It's a continuation of their habit of connecting different scenes, generations and sounds across British music.

The album follows a landmark period for the pair. 'Baddadan' spent over 15 weeks in the UK Top 10 and went Platinum, while 'BACKBONE' featuring Stormzy became their first UK number one single. They also picked up a BRIT Award for British Producer of the Year before a record-breaking sold-out UK arena tour and a headline slot at the Milton Keynes National Bowl. This Leeds date is part of the rollout for the new material.

Doors open at 7pm at Leeds Beckett Students' Union on Portland Way, LS13HE. Tickets are available in a few different bundles: a CD copy of the album plus one ticket for £19.99 (limit four per person), a vinyl LP plus one ticket for £34.99 (limit two per person), or just a single ticket for £16.50 (limit one per person).
