Family autumn trail through Burley Park to learn about its trees and the seeds they produce, with a prize to take home.
The Friends of Burley Park are running an Autumn Trail at Burley Park on Saturday 24 October, from 10.30am to 12.30pm. It's a morning out for adults and children to explore the park together, and the whole thing is put on by the local group that looks after the place.
The trail is built around the trees and the seeds they produce. As you make your way through the park, you'll find out more about the different species growing there and the seeds they drop each autumn. It's the kind of thing that's easy to walk with kids in tow — they can spot the seeds on the ground while you get the details on what they actually come from. If you've spent any time in the park, you've probably seen the leaves turning and the seeds scattering without thinking much about it; this gives you a reason to actually stop and look.
There's a tasty prize to take home at the end for those who complete the trail, which is a nice enough incentive to keep the smaller ones moving when they'd rather just stop and play in the leaves. It's a straightforward, low-pressure way to spend a Saturday morning outdoors in Leeds, especially when the weather is turning and the park is at its most colourful.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Leeds and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

It runs from 10.30am to 12.30pm at Burley Park, so you've got a good two-hour window to get around at your own pace. The Friends of Burley Park are the ones behind it, and they're inviting families to come along and get to know the trees and seeds of their own local park.
