Shaun Williamson hosts the final big night of karaoke at The Old Woollen in Sunny Bank Mills.
Barrioke is coming to The Old Woollen on Saturday 24 October, and it's billed as the final huge night of karaoke in the run. The whole thing is hosted by Shaun Williamson, who most people will recognise as Barry Evans from EastEnders — a role he played for nine years until his dramatic exit at the hands of Janine Butcher. If that's not your thing, you might know him from Ricky Gervais' Extras and Life's Too Short, or remember him as the high-scoring winner of Celebrity Mastermind back in 2004. He's also a musical theatre star, which explains why he's the one leading a karaoke night rather than just sitting in the audience.
As for how it works: Williamson hosts with his trademark warmth and teasing banter, accompanying people on stage and giving the audience a chance to sing alongside him. It's less of a standard karaoke where you're left to your own devices and more of a shared thing, with him right there in the thick of it. If you've seen any of the viral videos that have popped up around him over the years, you'll have a fair idea of the energy he brings to the room.
