Over-18s punk and noise rock night with Babe Haven and Latter at Boom in Leeds.
Babe Haven play Boom on Friday 13 November, with Latter opening. It's a Dirty Otter night, and the whole thing is over-18s only.
Babe Haven are a queer punk band from Boone, North Carolina, formed by Lillie Della Penna and Naomi Poesel. They've built their sound around a riot grrrl attitude and a nu-metal edge, and they describe their songs as anthems of empowerment and resistance aimed at uplifting femme, queer and BIPOC voices. Their second album, Nuisance, pulls from nu-metal, thrash and punk, so it's a fair bet the set will lean into those heavier, more abrasive textures.
They've shared stages with Mannequin Pussy, Otoboke Beaver, Soft Play, Teen Mortgage, Pinkshift and Pollyanna, and played festivals like L7's Fast and Frightening Takeover, Punk Rock Bowling and Jorts Fest. That puts them in a particular company — loud, high-energy bands that don't sit still.

Opening for them is Latter, a Chicago-based noise rock project that came together by chance in 2022. It's the work of Philadelphia-born sound artist Meredith Haines and drummer Jonathan Alvarado, who you might know from Beach Bunny. Between the two of them, you've got a sound artist and a drummer, which usually points towards something more textural and rhythmic than your standard rock setup.
Boom is at 5 Canal Place, Leeds, LS12 2DU. The night starts at 7:30 PM, tickets are £17.51, and it's over-18s only.
