Free autumn pottery market with work from Sunken Studio members and guest makers from across the region at the South Bank ceramics hub.
Sunken Studio is hosting its Autumn Pottery Market on Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November, with the doors open from 11am to 3pm both days. It's a free entry, no booking required, so you can just turn up whenever suits you across the weekend.
If you've never been, Sunken Studio is a production pottery and co-working ceramics studio in South Bank, billed as the largest independent ceramics centre in Yorkshire. It started back in 2016, founded by award-winning ceramicist Rebecca Catterall, who still leads it alongside community coordinator Milly Recci. Over the years it's grown from a modest workspace into a proper hub for adult craft education and maker co-working, with potter's wheels, kilns, spacious group workspaces and well-equipped material and fabrication labs. They also run structured pottery-making courses and open access for independent makers.
That's where the market comes from. Traditionally, these sales have been made up of the studio's own members, each bringing their own approach to materials and process. This edition is different, though: for the first time, guest makers from across the region have been invited to showcase their work alongside them. It means you'll see the studio's regulars and some new faces from beyond South Bank in the same room.
