First session of the Armley Park Lantern Parade workshops, where participants build willow and paper lanterns.
The Armley Park Lantern Parade is back this November, and the workshops to get you involved start at the Leeds Industrial Museum at Armley Mills on Sunday 1 November. It's run by Friends of Armley and Gotts Park, and the workshops are the way in: you spend the first session building a lantern from willow and paper, then come back a week later to decorate it, before carrying it in the parade itself.
The first session is on Sunday 1 November at 12:30, and the decorating session follows on Sunday 8 November from 12:30 to 13:45. One ticket covers both, so you're sorted for the whole making process in one go. The sessions are run at tables of two, four or six people, with at least one adult for every two children under eight, which makes it easy to bring a small group along. The organisers have made the workshops ticket-only again this year, noting that charging for places has helped cut no-shows compared to previous years.

Once your lantern is finished, the parade itself takes place on the evening of Sunday 15 November, starting from around 4pm. Tickets are between £1.79 and £3.96, booked via Eventbrite, and the museum is on Canal Road, Armley, LS12 2QF.
