Daytime indie party for over-30s with DJs spinning indie classics from the 70s to the 2000s, with last entry at 6pm.
An Afternoon of Indie returns to The Backroom on Saturday 16 January, from 3pm to 7pm. Presented by Club de Fromage, it's the first Leeds date of 2027 for the circuit, which runs across 17 cities. The whole thing is strictly for over-30s, with a door policy that asks for ID and last entry at 6pm.
On the decks are Feeling Gloomy and Age Against The Machine, spinning indie classics across the decades. The set reaches back to 70s punk, 80s new wave, 90s Britpop and the early 2000s, and the list of names they draw from is long: Bowie, Pulp, The Clash, The Jam, The Cure, Joy Division, The Stone Roses, The Smiths, New Order, The Strokes, Supergrass, The Kinks, Franz Ferdinand, Nirvana, Ash, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Primal Scream, The Killers, the Buzzcocks, the Ramones, The Specials, Blondie, Hole, Madness, La's, Weezer, the Cardigans, the Housemartins, Coral, the Undertones, Inspiral Carpets, Bloc Party, the Beatles, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Radiohead, Suede, Echo and the Bunnymen and the Pixies. There's also rock 'n' roll, soul, northern soul and ska mixed in.
