If you are looking for a casual evening out with good food and live music, Leeds Street Feast is a free, family-friendly food festival that takes over Millennium Square for a weekend. It runs across three days in July, with the Friday session from 4pm to 8pm, Saturday from 11am to 8pm and Sunday from 11am to 6pm. The square sits next to the Leeds City Museum on Cookridge Street, and the whole site is accessible, with toilets including accessible ones and a Changing Places unit.

The food is the main draw, with more than 20 independent traders setting up. The line-up pulls from a lot of different cuisines, so there is something for most tastes: Karobar, Elbows on the Table, Spuds & Bros, Birria Bandits, 7 Star Flag with Piglove Brewing Co, Farsley Fire & Smoke, Bliss Bites Brazil, Little Bubble Box, Big Phillies, Kirkstall Brewery, Kabao Leeds, Sri Non Thai, Fizz Bar, Homeboy Pizza, The Sausage Box, That's So Corny, Sela Bar, The Chilli Shop and Simple Creep. Between them they cover Indian, Mexican, Venezuelan, Texas-inspired BBQ, Brazilian, Thai and Canadian options, so you can work your way around the world without leaving the city centre. Councillor Salma Arif, Leeds City Council's executive member for economy, has pointed to the diverse selection of local traders as part of the summer celebration.
To wash it all down, there is a drinks line-up of its own. Kirkstall Brewery, Piglove Brewing Co, Sela Bar, Fizz Bar and Lemonology pour craft beer, cocktails, Pimms and prosecco, so you can pair your food with a beer or something a bit more celebratory. The music keeps things going alongside, with Salsa Chubasco and Gustavo Andrade & The Brasukas — described as the best Brazilian band in the north of England — plus a run of DJs including DJ Lubi, DJ Gip Dammone, DJ Roze Gold, DJ Bespoke, DJ Muddy Brown and the El Caspete DJs. If you are feeling brave, The Chilli Shop hosts a Chilli Wing Eating Challenge on the Sunday, which is a bit of a spectacle to watch even if you would rather not take part yourself.
A couple of practical things are worth knowing before you go. External food and drink are not allowed on site, but you can bring a reusable drink bottle up to 500ml with an intact cap, or one empty reusable water bottle per person, and there is free drinking water available. It is a free event, so there is no ticket to book or queue for, which makes it easy to drop into for an hour or settle in for the afternoon. Whether you are there for the food, the music or both, it is a straightforward way to spend a summer weekend in the city centre. For the full line-up and any last-minute updates, the Millennium Square website is the place to check before you head down.
