Concert by the Wheeland Brothers, a California reggae and acoustic rock duo, at Warehouse On Broadway.
Wheeland Brothers play Warehouse On Broadway on Friday, October 16, starting at 7 PM. The duo is Nate and Travis Wheeland, two brothers from San Onofre, California, who grew up surfing in Orange County and playing music around the campfire. That background comes through in their sound, which blends reggae energy with acoustic rock, barefoot country and ukulele. It's California reggae and surf rock played on acoustic instruments, so it sits somewhere between a beach party and a living room session.
They've spent the last decade building a discography that traces that sound. Their first record, Toast to the Coast, came out in 2012, followed by Muchos Mahalos in 2013 and Lost in the Key of Sea in 2016. Those three albums cover the ground they've been working with: the reggae rhythms, the acoustic rock, and the ukulele that keeps things light. Between the records, they've played festivals like Cali Roots, KAABOO, Firefly, Wakarusa and Summercamp, so they're used to the larger stages as much as the smaller ones.

On the night, it's just the two of them. The set will draw from those three albums, and the sound they describe as California reggae and surf rock should translate well to the room. The show is at Warehouse On Broadway, 3951 Broadway Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64111, and it kicks off at 7 PM.
