A nighttime nature program to observe nocturnal wildlife at the Lakeside Nature Center.
Lakeside Nature Center is hosting What's Out at Night on Saturday, October 17, from 10 AM to 12 PM. It's a nighttime nature program focused on observing nocturnal wildlife, and it's held at their facility in Kansas City, Missouri.
If you haven't spent much time there, it helps to know what the place is. Lakeside Nature Center works as both an educational and recreational resource, and its award-winning facility houses around 60 animals. You'll find bald eagles and other birds of prey, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and fish. The grounds feature the Fox Hollow Trail, which meanders along limestone bluffs beside Fox Hollow Creek through old riparian forest. On any given day, you can take guided hikes with naturalists, see native animal displays, and hear storytelling by "Mother Nature." Their birthday packages include a 30-minute live animal presentation by a Nature Center naturalist.
Behind the scenes, a Friends of Lakeside Nature Center group supports wildlife rehabilitation, events, educational programming, and the maintenance of the trails and native gardens. That work is what keeps the center running as a place for both the animals it cares for and the people who visit.
