Trunk or Treat

Lakeside Nature Center is hosting its Trunk or Treat on Sunday, October 11, at 4701 E Gregory Blvd in Kansas City. It's a drive-thru event, so you stay in your car and roll through the parking lot rather than walking around. As you go, you'll pick up treats and meet animal ambassadors along the way.

That second part is what sets this apart from a standard candy run. Instead of just grabbing a handful of sweets and moving on, you get to see some of the animals the center looks after. It's a low-pressure way to get the kids close to some wildlife without having to leave the car, which makes it a pretty easy option if you've got little ones who might get overwhelmed by a big crowd.

Since it's a drive-thru, it's also a good pick for a quick stop on a Sunday afternoon. You don't have to worry about parking and walking a long distance; you just drive in, get your treats, meet the animals, and head back out. If you're already out and about in the city, it's a simple addition to the day.

Entry is free, and the center accepts donations. You can find more details on their website at lakesidenaturecenter.org.
