The Anarchy Fun Time Show

The Anarchy Fun Time Show is back at The Bird Comedy Theater with two performances: Saturday, Oct 10, and Friday, Oct 16, both starting at 7:30 PM. It's a live variety and sketch comedy show that the creators bill as coming "from the heart of America," written and performed by a group of Kansas City's own comedians and actors.

If you've never seen it, the format is a variety show in the truest sense. A single night pulls together sketches, recurring characters, stand-up bits, music, and videos, all woven into one evening. It's not a single long play or a stand-up set with a few songs thrown in; it's a collection of different comedy styles running back-to-back, so the energy shifts throughout the show. The material is written and performed by the local comedians themselves, which gives it a distinct Kansas City feel.

The show is recommended for ages 17 and up, so keep that in mind if you're planning a night out with a younger crowd. It runs at The Bird Comedy Theater, 103 W. 19th Street in the Crossroads Arts District. The Bird has been around since 2022 and was voted the city's number one comedy club; they program improv, sketch, and stand-up every week, and they also run improv classes for anyone looking to get on stage themselves, along with private comedy bookings for corporate events and special occasions.

Both shows start at 7:30 PM, and doors open 30 minutes before each performance, so you've got plenty of time to get settled before the first sketch kicks off. You can find tickets at the venue's website or through Eventbrite.
