Sean McNown: Live Music Tuesdays

Sean McNown plays Sail Away Wine on Tuesday, October 13, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM. It's part of the venue's Live Music Tuesdays series, so if you're around North Kansas City on a Tuesday evening, this is one of the easier ways to catch some live music without a big commitment.

McNown is a solo act, and he builds his sound on the fly. He plays with a loop, a harmonizer, and a handful of effect pedals, layering parts as he goes rather than playing with a full band. The set draws from a wide range of covers—songs from the 1960s through to today—mixed in with a few of his own original pieces. It's a broad reach, so you'll likely hear things you recognize alongside stuff you haven't.

He's been around music his whole life and started taking it seriously shortly after high school. He studied at the Conservatory of Music at UMKC, where he majored in Music Education, before moving into live entertainment in 2003. Before going solo, he was the lead singer of the Kansas City band Twice on Sunday.

Sail Away Wine runs the Tuesday night, and the show is no cover. It runs from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM at 309 Armour Road in North Kansas City, and under-21s are welcome as long as they're with a parent or legal guardian.
