A live music performance by Sammy Rae & The Friends, a collective blending rock, folk, funk, soul and jazz, with special guest Melt.
Sammy Rae & The Friends play The Truman on Tuesday, October 20, with special guest Melt opening the night. It's an all-ages show, so you can bring the whole crew.
If you're not familiar, Sammy Rae & The Friends is a collective fronted by singer-songwriter Sammy Rae. Her sound pulls from classic rock, folk, funk, soul, and jazz, and the group grew out of the friends she gathered after moving from Connecticut to New York City in her early twenties. They describe their live shows as an invitation for the audience to become part of the family, which fits the collective way they work.
There's a fair bit of material to draw from. They put out two EPs, The Good Life in 2018 and Let's Throw a Party in 2021, before releasing their debut full-length, Something For Everybody, in 2024. They've played the main stage at Bonnaroo, and they're currently working on their next album, so this is a good time to catch them in the middle of that cycle.
