Live music performance by JJ Jamison and Aidan Murrow on the historic Rock Island Bridge with the Kansas City skyline in view.
JJ Jamison and Aidan Murrow play the River Garden on Saturday, October 17, from 7 PM to 10 PM. The stage is out on the Rock Island Bridge, so you'll have the Kansas City skyline in view while they play.
If you haven't spent much time out there, the bridge is a 120-year-old railroad span over the Kansas River that the city is turning into a riverfront destination for dining, events, and public gatherings—the state's first entertainment district on a bridge. It stays open to the public free of charge from March through December, and the central truss is fully covered and heated for bad weather, so you don't have to worry about the October chill. Leashed pets are welcome throughout, too.
On the music side, guitarist Aidan Murrow grew up in St. Louis and played the Newport Jazz Festival at 17. He earned a jazz performance degree from the Eastman School of Music and specializes in jazz, funk, fusion, and R&B, which gives you a good sense of the ground he covers. He's pairing up with JJ Jamison for the set, and the two will be playing above the river with the skyline as the backdrop.

If you want to make a meal of it, the bridge's dining room and walk-up window, Rock Island Eats, are open daily: the lunch menu runs from 11 AM to 3 PM, and the River House dinner menu starts at 3 PM. The concert itself is free, and it runs from 7 PM to 10 PM on Saturday, October 17.
