A dance fitness program combining explosive dance movements with body-weight toning, presented by NickiFit.
NickiFit brings MixxedFit to the Lucile H. Bluford Branch of the Kansas City Public Library on Thursday, October 15, at 6 PM. It's a dance fitness class that pairs explosive dance movements with body-weight toning, so you're getting a cardio workout and some strength work in the same session. A certified MixxedFit instructor leads the whole thing, and the music pulls from a few different worlds—Top 40, hip-hop, reggae, and rock—so the playlist changes as much as the moves do.
NickiFit is the certified personal training and group instruction business run by Nicki Jones, and the library has hosted MixxedFit across its branches. If you've never done it before, the format is pretty straightforward: you follow along with the instructor, moving through the dance sequences and the toning exercises. It's designed to be accessible, so you don't need a background in dance to get into it.

The Lucile H. Bluford Branch, located at 3050 Prospect Avenue, is one of several library locations that host fitness classes. This one is a MixxedFit session, but the branch also runs HIIT classes. Other branches in the system offer yoga, and the library provides the yoga mats for those sessions. For this one, there's no RSVP needed—you can just show up. The class starts at 6 PM on Thursday, October 15, at the Lucile H. Bluford Branch.
