Mike Maimone performs songs from his 15th album and reads selections from his book, a tribute to his late husband Howard Bragman.
Mike Maimone plays Minibar on Wednesday, October 14, as part of his Guess What? I Love You album and book tour. It's a solo piano set: Maimone performs songs from the new album and reads short selections from the book, both of which share the same title.
Guess What? I Love You is Maimone's 15th album and his first book, and both are a tribute to his late husband, Howard Bragman. Bragman was a Hollywood publicist who helped many celebrities come out and appeared on RuPaul's Drag Race and Good Morning America. The book earned a Kirkus recommendation and an endorsement from Don Lemon, and Los Angeles Magazine called it "a moving account of love, loss and the radical act of staying open to possibility."
Maimone is a piano-playing singer-songwriter with over 200 published original songs, and his piano-based sound draws comparisons to Randy Newman, Leon Russell, Tom Waits and Dr. John. His work has appeared on film and television soundtracks, and he's shared the stage with Stevie Wonder and toured with Blues Traveler, Plain White T's and OK Go. In 2023, he played keys alongside Wonder in tribute to Bragman, and his Los Angeles, New York and Chicago shows sold out with the proceeds donated to The Trevor Project.
