A memorial gathering to remember the life and work of ceramic artist Steven B. Whitacre at the Leedy-Voulkos Art Center.
Leedy-Voulkos Art Center is hosting a memorial gathering for Steven B. Whitacre (1941โ2026) on Sunday, October 25, from 4 PM to 6 PM. Whitacre was a ceramic artist, and the afternoon is dedicated to remembering his work and his life. It's an open gathering, and everyone is welcome to attend.
If you aren't familiar with the venue, Leedy-Voulkos is at 2012 Baltimore Avenue in the Crossroads Arts District. It's been showing regional, national, and international artists for 28 years, with a mission to help establish Kansas City as a center for the arts. The center continues its founder's legacy of sharing professional resources with developing artists by balancing its exhibition programming with education and community outreach. It's often described as the founding footprint of the Crossroads Art District, so it's a fitting place for a ceramic artist's memorial.
